UKO - Stanmore

Our design includes spaces for you to hang out, get some work done, chat with other guests or invite your friends over for a dinner party. For those times you’re seeking a community vibe rather than being in your apartment you have the option of a courtyard or lounge room to socialize or just chill. It’s also where you will find the community host floating about. Most likely in the courtyard if the sun is shining! They are there to help you out and hook you up. They will also host some low key activities which are free to house guests. Other things they do is head to the markets once a week for everyone, water your plants, run the wine club, bake snacks and organize weekend outings. All UKOs have a Community Host whose job it is to organize options for people to do. For instance, we have a community dinner every fortnight. We also run everything from movie nights, yoga in the courtyard, gin-making workshops to nights out in the pub!

Neighbourhood

Stanmore, Sydney, Australia

Beneath the surface of Stanmore lies a cultural village that hums day and night. To any ‘muso’ The Annandale Hotel (across the road) is as famous as the Opera House – and while you may not have heard of the likes of Beastman, Numskull, Mulga and Jumboist – the work of these renowned street artists seems to appear on every corner and building throughout the 2048. With a healthy selection of cafés, breweries and a few notable restaurants all within a stone’s throw of the CBD – this little gem is punching well above its weight and is a true favourite among Sydney locals.
